Meet Judy Hartman

Judy Hartman grew up in Grass Valley, CA. She has been riding horses since she was 4 years old. When she was 9 she joined the 4-H club in Nevada County, CA, where she was introduced to a dressage trainer named Lucy Parker. Who became her mentor. She still to this day she rides with Lucy. Judy's dressage career is mostly bringing horses up through 4th level then selling before she got to FEI.

A few years later she met another trainer, Leslie Deutsch. Leslie was involved with the local Pony Club and got Judy interested in jumping. As a teen she began showing in the Junior Jumpers and evented through training level.

Her senior year she moved to Reno and in 1995 she joined the Marine Corp. She was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, her first year. Then she was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. She missed horses so she found a local barn and started giving lessons. She had around 10 students that showed competitively at the local shows.

In 1998 she went to England and represented the United States Marine Corp Equestrian Team, where she competed in Service Show Jumping and Tent Pegging. Judy or then Cpl Hartman was the first and only female ever to represent the USMC in such and event.

She moved to Gardnerville, NV in 2001.She ran her own barn for two years. She had a few horses in training and students who were mostly Pony Club kids. She had a successful resale business, where she had brought thoroughbreds in and resold them to the local pony clubbers or other local barns.
